Sound familiar?
- Quoting a list of small jobs and forgetting one when you add it up
- Materials bought on the way, with the slips left in the bakkie
- Clients who ask for "just one more thing" and then dispute the total
- Invoicing at the end of a long day, so it goes out days later
- Chasing a small invoice that is not worth an awkward phone call
Zuvo drafts the quote from your plain-English description, lets you review and correct it, then sends a branded PDF to your client, shows them how to pay and keeps track of what is outstanding and who has paid. Want to see the structure first? Use the free quote generator.
The examples above use made-up prices. Always check the registration, certificate and licensing rules for your trade.
From quote to paid, built for handymen
The job is not done when the quote is accepted. Zuvo helps with the part that follows: the deposit, the invoice and the late payer.
- One quote for the whole list. Describe every job in one go and Zuvo lists each on its own line, with your call-out fee and hourly rate, so nothing is left off the total.
- Your call-out fee and hourly rate, saved once. Put your call-out fee and hourly rate in your price list once. When a job mentions them, Zuvo uses your numbers, and a price you state always wins.
- Invoice the same day. Turn an accepted quote into an invoice on site, with the extras added, and send it before you leave. Photograph a receipt and Zuvo reads it, so the materials you bought are recorded for your accountant.
- Clients see exactly how to pay. Every invoice has a private page that shows your EFT details, the reference to use and your own card link if you have one. The client taps "I have paid" and you check your bank. Zuvo never holds your money.
- Reminders that stop at "paid". Switch on reminders and Zuvo politely emails clients who run late, in office hours, until the invoice is paid. It stays off until you turn it on. Automatic reminders are included in the 7-day trial and on Growth and Business.

See every feature or pricing in Rand. There is a free plan, and the 7-day trial needs no card.
What a good handyman quote includes
A quote that is easy to read gets accepted faster. These are the things South African clients most often ask about, so put them on the page before they have to ask:
- Every job on its own line, so the client can see exactly what the total covers
- A call-out or minimum charge, and whether it comes off the total if the client goes ahead
- Labour as hours at your rate, and materials as a separate line
- Who buys the materials, and whether they are at cost or with a markup
- What is not included, and what happens if more work is found on the day
- A valid-until date and the payment terms
Example: one day of repairs

How Zuvo works for handymen
- Describe the job. Type it, or say it into your phone, the way you would explain it to a colleague. Include your prices.
- Review the quote. Zuvo drafts the line items, adds your business details and VAT status, and you correct anything before it goes out.
- Send it your way. Email the PDF, or share a link on WhatsApp. The client reads the quote and accepts it online by typing their name, with no app or login.
- Get paid. Ask for a deposit, turn the accepted quote into an invoice and give the client a page that shows exactly how to pay. Record part-payments as they come in, and let Zuvo remind the clients who run late.
There is a free plan, so you can start without paying. See every feature. See pricing in Rand, or read how to write a quote that gets accepted and how to follow up on a late invoice.
Quoting and getting-paid questions from South African handymen
What should a handyman quote include?
List each job on its own line, show your call-out fee, give labour as hours at your rate, show materials separately, say what is excluded and add a valid-until date. Where the scope may grow, say how extra work will be priced.
How do I stop "just one more thing" eating my profit?
Say on the quote that extra work is priced at your hourly rate and ask the client to agree to it before you do it. For anything bigger than a few minutes, add it to the quote so the record matches the work.
Should a handyman quote include VAT?
Only if you are VAT-registered. If you are, the total you quote the customer should include 15% VAT, and showing the VAT amount on its own line keeps it clear. If you are not registered, leave VAT off. Registration is compulsory once taxable turnover passes R2.3 million in a 12-month period, and voluntary from R120,000.
Should I charge a call-out fee?
Many handymen do, and it is fine to list it as its own line. Say clearly whether it is credited against the total if the client goes ahead, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
Can I ask for a deposit?
Yes. Once the client accepts a quote, Zuvo can raise a deposit invoice for the percentage you choose. When the job is done, the final invoice bills the whole quote and takes the deposit off, so nothing is billed twice. Whether to ask, and how much, is your call; for small jobs most handymen invoice on completion, and a deposit is more common on jobs where you buy materials first.
Will Zuvo chase a client who has not paid?
If you switch it on, yes. Automatic reminders are included in the 7-day trial and on the Growth and Business plans; on Free and Starter, Zuvo drafts the follow-up for you to send yourself. Zuvo emails the client a polite reminder on weekdays in office hours: gentle reminders start on the due date, standard ones start three days before it and continue until 30 days overdue. They stop when you mark the invoice paid, and replies come to you. It is off until you turn it on. Zuvo does not hold or collect your money: the client pays you directly by EFT or your own card link.

More than quotes
The same assistant writes the follow-ups that win the work and the reminders that get you paid. Ask it to chase a quiet quote, ask a client politely for an overdue payment, answer a price question on WhatsApp, or summarise a supplier contract. It can also run a scored Growth Diagnostic of your business. See everything Zuvo does.
